What it costs for 25 client sites.

Say you want safe updates, backups, uptime monitoring, vulnerability alerts and white-label client reports on 25 sites.

  • WP Umbrella: $2.19 per site per month, so 25 sites come to $54.75 a month. That price covers all of the above. The Security add-on (firewall, virtual patching, malware scanning) is $2 more per site, and hourly backups $2.49 more per site.
  • Sitegoalie: Pro is $29 a month for up to 25 sites, with Safe Updates, uptime, vulnerability alerts, PDF client reports and the client portal included. Agency is $79 a month for up to 100.
  • Where it flips: Safe Updates starts on Solo at $9, so for 1 to 4 sites WP Umbrella costs less. Just past each Sitegoalie plan limit it can too: at 6 sites WP Umbrella is $13.14 against Studio at $15, at 11 to 13 sites it is $24.09 to $28.47 against Pro at $29, and at 26 to 36 sites it is $56.94 to $78.84 against Agency at $79. Everywhere else the flat plan costs less, and the gap grows as you fill a plan: at 25 sites $54.75 against $29, at 100 sites $219 against $79.

Where Sitegoalie is different.

Both tools take a backup, compare screenshots and roll back a failed update. The difference is what Sitegoalie checks besides the screenshots, and how it is priced.

  • Real WooCommerce checkout, form and wp-admin tests before and after each update, not just a status code and screenshots
  • Rollback when checkout or wp-admin breaks, even if the page still loads
  • A flat price per plan by number of sites, not a price for every site
  • Plugin health grades and accessibility scans, which wp-umbrella.com does not list

How Safe Updates works

When WP Umbrella is the better fit.

Sitegoalie does not do everything WP Umbrella does. Stay with WP Umbrella, or use both, if you need:

  • A firewall, virtual patching or malware scanning. Sitegoalie has none of these and works alongside Wordfence or Patchstack. WP Umbrella sells them as its Security add-on.
  • Google Analytics in your dashboard. Sitegoalie has no Google Analytics integration.
  • One-click login to each site’s wp-admin from the dashboard.
  • Off-site cloud backups today. Sitegoalie Cloud backups are coming soon on paid plans; until then Sitegoalie’s own backups are kept on your site’s server, so use UpdraftPlus or a similar plugin if you want copies elsewhere.
  • More than 100 sites in one account, or more team members than Sitegoalie’s plans allow.
  • The lowest price for a handful of sites, as the cost example above shows.

Switching from WP Umbrella.

You can try Sitegoalie without turning anything off.

  1. Start free

Create a workspace. Every new workspace gets 14 days of Pro, so Safe Updates is on from day one.

  2. Connect sites

Install the Sitegoalie plugin on each site and paste its connection key. You do not need to remove anything first.

  3. Choose a backup

Safe Updates needs a successful backup from the last 24 hours. Switch on Sitegoalie’s own Backups on each site, or keep using UpdraftPlus. Major WordPress updates still use UpdraftPlus.

  4. Turn on Safe Updates

Switch it on site by site, then pick a maintenance day for each. Run updates from one tool at a time.

  5. Move over

Once you trust the results, cancel WP Umbrella for the sites you have moved.

Questions about switching.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan covers one site for as long as you like. Every new workspace also gets 14 days of Pro, which includes Safe Updates.

Can I run Sitegoalie and WP Umbrella on the same site?

You can install both plugins to compare them before you switch. Avoid running updates from both tools at the same time.

Does Sitegoalie have a firewall or malware scanner?

No. Sitegoalie alerts you to known plugin and theme vulnerabilities using Wordfence Intelligence data, and can switch on a set of hardening rules, but it does not block attacks or scan for malware. Run it next to Wordfence or Patchstack if you need that.

Does Sitegoalie store my backups?

Sitegoalie makes backups itself once you switch Backups on for a site: weekly, with the last 3 kept on the site’s own server. You can download them from wp-admin and restore them from there. Sitegoalie Cloud backups, stored for you on paid plans, are coming soon. If you prefer, UpdraftPlus works too, and Safe Updates checks that a successful backup exists from the last 24 hours before it updates.

Is Sitegoalie cheaper than WP Umbrella?

It depends on how many sites you manage. For 1 to 4 sites WP Umbrella’s per-site price is lower than Solo, and just past each Sitegoalie plan limit it can be lower too. Near the top of each plan, Sitegoalie costs less: $29 for 25 sites against $54.75, and $79 for 100 sites against $219.

Does it work with any host?

Yes. Sitegoalie works through its WordPress plugin, so it does not depend on your hosting company.

WP Umbrella is a trademark of its owner and is not affiliated with Sitegoalie. WP Umbrella features and prices are from wp-umbrella.com, checked on 5 October 2026, and may have changed since.

Try it on one site, free.

The Free plan covers one site and needs no card.

  1. Connect a site

Install the Sitegoalie plugin and paste your connection key. It takes about two minutes.

  2. See where it stands

The first report arrives within minutes: uptime, SSL, vulnerabilities, plugin health and pending updates.

  3. Switch on Safe Updates when you’re ready

Pick a maintenance day and let it run, with a summary email after every run.

Read-only by default. Nothing on a site changes until you switch Safe Updates on for it.
